For the last 20 years OFSAT have enjoyed a long term partnership with BahwanDHL who have worked with us to help shape and modernise rig moving and logistics using a range of different technologies to ensure that our rig moves and cargo operations not only run smoothly, but are operated in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.
We also pride ourselves by forging strong relationships we have with other rig moving companies, sharing best practices and safety initiatives. Which is particularly important when we are tasked with carrying joint rig move operations as and when our clients require it.
In 2022 we moved approx 110 land based rigs, transported nearly 90,000 tonnes of cargo over 7,500,000 kilometers and loaded / offloaded over 300,000 tonnes of cargo in our supply yards.
Operational Portfolio
For nearly 40 years OFSAT have been moving land based oil rigs on behalf of many high profile clients allowing them to honour their production targets as well as contributing to the Oman economy and the country’s success. To enable this to happen smoothly, OFSAT have developed a comprehensive rig move process which is executed and coordinated to allow multiple simultaneous operations to be performed with the minimum of disruption and fuss.
Although all rig moves are different, our onsite operations teams plans’ are integrated with the drilling contractor’s personnel including the PDO appointed Rig DSV (Company Man) to ensure that all parties are all aligned on the way forward. Our supervisors ensure that a pre-move meeting is held to identify rig move challenges before they become a problem, confirming that the first essential loads have been identified, the route has been surveyed with remedial work completed and that the correct equipment is on location and ready. Additionally, our onsite supervisory crews verify that all equipment is in good working order, personnel training records are valid, vehicle certifications and asset information are in date to both the drilling contractors and statutory standards. Rig moves are then subject to random checks by our Operations Manager and HSE Teams to ensure that our own internal auditing and assurance programme remains valid.
In addition to the rig move operations OFSAT operate the loading and unloading in several supply yards in Fahud, the teams which carry out these duties are dedicated crews a have many years of experience in this part of the operation. We also operate a weighbridge service to all contractors (including our own vehicles) before they leave for their destination to ensure that all vehicles are correctly weighted before leaving on their journey.
